    Overview & Applications

The Ferbo Turbowing spray boom is engineered for precision irrigation across a wide range of agricultural applications, from intensive market gardens to large-scale cropping operations. Designed to integrate with hose reel irrigators, this system delivers a gentle, uniform spray pattern that is particularly suited to vegetables, seedlings, and other delicate crops requiring controlled water application. With boom lengths ranging from 29m (95ft) to 76m (249ft), the Turbowing can irrigate strips from approximately 30m (98ft) up to 94m (308ft), depending on nozzle configuration. Its fine droplet distribution helps protect soil structure while minimising crop damage, making it ideal for environments where consistent moisture and plant health are critical.

    Design & Construction

Constructed for durability in demanding field conditions, the Turbowing features a robust galvanised steel frame that provides long-term resistance to corrosion and mechanical stress. Key structural elements are reinforced with stainless steel components at critical endpoints, enhancing longevity under continuous operation. The boom design incorporates a network of 13 to 26 outlets, depending on the model, ensuring even water distribution across the full span.

For ease of transport and storage, the boom folds compactly to lengths between 5m (16ft) and 7.4m (24ft). The system supports both hose reel-mounted and trailed configurations, allowing operators to adapt the equipment to different field layouts and operational preferences. Adjustable working heights ranging from 1.5m (4.9ft) to 3.6m (11.8ft) further enhance its suitability for varying crop types and growth stages.

    Technical Performance

Engineered for efficiency, the Turbowing operates effectively at low pressures between 1 bar (14.5 psi) and 4 bar (58 psi), significantly reducing energy consumption and pumping requirements. High-quality nozzle options, including models such as Nelson S3030, R3030, and R55A, produce a nebulised spray pattern that ensures fine droplet distribution and uniform ground coverage.

This controlled spray technology improves water placement accuracy while reducing runoff, soil compaction, and evaporation losses. The stable spray pattern also demonstrates strong resistance to wind drift, maintaining consistent irrigation performance even under variable weather conditions. Compatibility with travelling irrigator systems allows for efficient coverage of large areas with minimal labour input.

    Available Configurations

The Turbowing is available in five primary models—TW30, TW40, TW46, TW64, and TW76—offering flexibility to match different operational requirements. These configurations provide varying track widths from 1.5m (4.9ft) to 4.2m (13.8ft), enabling compatibility with diverse row spacings and field conditions. Centre frame options include standard 2.2m (7.2ft) and extended 2.5m (8.2ft) sections.

Additional customisation is available through a selection of end sprinkler options, including Nelson PCS, PCR3030, R55A, and alternative sprinkler types such as K1 or Luxor units. These terminal configurations can extend the effective irrigation width and optimise water distribution across the full coverage area. With multiple nozzle arrangements and structural variations, the Turbowing system provides a versatile solution for modern irrigation management.
