    Overview

The MASTER MDT12 MP is a diesel motor-pump integrated hard hose irrigator manufactured by Irrimec, Italy. Built on a single integrated chassis, this machine carries its own diesel engine and water pump, enabling it to be towed directly to an open water source—channel, river, dam or bore—and operate entirely independently of existing mains or pressurised infrastructure. The onboard pump draws water and pressurises it at the inlet, feeding a turbine drive system that rewinds the hose reel.

The MASTER MDT12 MP features a robust turbine and gearbox assembly designed for high-flow operation, with hose reel configurations spanning diameters from 125 mm to 160 mm and lengths from 450 m to 780 m. The turbine-driven rewind mechanism is powered by the machine's own pressurised output, while a by-pass valve provides precise speed control. Mounted on a galvanised chassis with road-compliant wheel configuration, the unit is engineered for reliable mobility between paddocks and water sources across large-scale irrigation operations.

    Key Features & Benefits

    • Integrated Diesel Engine and Pump: Eliminates dependence on existing mains or bore infrastructure, allowing the irrigator to operate from any open water source with sufficient volume.
    • Direct Open-Source Water Draw: Draws directly from channels, rivers, dams or bores and pressurises water onboard, enabling deployment in remote locations without pressurised supply.
    • Turbine-Driven Hose Rewind: The onboard pump feeds a turbine flanged to the gearbox, providing proven torque-based rewind with fine speed control via by-pass valve, ensuring consistent retrieval across all hose lengths.
    • Single-Chassis Mobility: Engine, pump, turbine, gearbox and hose reel are mounted on one integrated frame, simplifying towing and repositioning between paddocks or water sources.
    • Wide Hose Capacity Range: Accommodates hose diameters from 125 mm to 160 mm and lengths up to 780 m, supporting large coverage areas and high flow rate applications.
    • High-Flow Pump Capacity: Designed to supply the pressurised flow required for turbine operation and raingun delivery, suited to broadacre and high-demand irrigation schedules.
    • Galvanised Chassis Construction: Protects the integrated frame, engine and pump mounting against corrosion in wet environments and open-source water exposure.
    • Self-Contained Operation: The complete pump-turbine-reel system is towable as a single unit, reducing setup time and enabling contract irrigators or multi-paddock farms to move efficiently between sites.

Integrated Pump & Turbine Drive Operation

The MASTER MDT12 MP operates via two complementary systems mounted on a single chassis. The onboard diesel engine drives a centrifugal pump that draws water directly from an open source—channel, river, dam or bore—and pressurises it at the machine's inlet. This pressurised flow is then fed into a turbine assembly flanged to a reduction gearbox. The turbine converts the kinetic energy of the flowing water into rotational torque, which the gearbox multiplies and transmits to the hose reel drum, rewinding the hose at a controlled rate. A by-pass valve diverts a portion of the flow back to the inlet or discharge, providing fine adjustment of rewind speed without altering engine or pump settings.

This integrated configuration delivers genuine operational autonomy. Because the machine carries its own pressurising capability, it can be deployed beside any accessible water body without relying on existing mains, bore pumps or header tanks. The turbine rewind mechanism itself is identical in principle to a standard turbine drive irrigator—reliable, torque-rich and self-regulating under varying hose loads—but the pressurised flow is supplied by the onboard pump rather than an external source. Single-chassis mobility allows the entire unit to be towed to new paddocks or water points as irrigation schedules change, streamlining logistics for large farms and contract operators.

    Ideal Applications

    • Paddocks Adjacent to Channels, Rivers or Dams: The integrated pump eliminates the need for mains connection, enabling direct draw and irrigation from surface water sources beside the field.
    • Remote Broadacre Sites Without Existing Infrastructure: Operates entirely self-contained, suited to properties where extending mains or installing bore pumps is uneconomical or impractical.
    • Contract Irrigation Services: Single-unit towability and onboard pressurisation simplify mobilisation between client farms, reducing setup time and equipment inventory.
    • Properties Drawing from Bores with Insufficient Inlet Pressure: The onboard pump boosts bore discharge to the pressure required for turbine operation and raingun delivery, enabling effective irrigation from low-pressure sources.
    • Large-Scale Forage, Pasture and Row Crop Irrigation: High hose capacity and flow rate suit extensive coverage areas, while open-source draw supports high-volume demand throughout the growing season.
    • Multi-Paddock Farms Requiring Equipment Flexibility: The machine can be repositioned to different water sources and fields as crop rotations and seasonal water availability dictate, maximising utilisation across the property.
