HARD ANODIZE PROTECTION
Hard Anodize or Hardcoat is an electrochemically produced grey layer of hard aluminum oxide on the surface of aluminum components. The film is built up by a process of anodic oxidation in a cooled acid electrolyte thus preventing any thermal or physical distortion of precision engineered components. The Hard Anodize is produced by specialist finishing companies. The coating grows integrally with the base metal providing excellent corrosion protection in harsh environments and wear protection in demanding applications.
Hard Anodize is a well established process suitable for meeting today’s demanding quality requirements. International standards provide a basis for the specification, production and testing. Hard Anodize finishes have an established reputation in a wide variety of applications. Major user industry sectors are aerospace, defense, hydraulic, chemical, pneumatic, marine and others.
Clear & Color Anodize provides corrosion protection only in mild environments with a minimum wear protection. Its main use can be found in the consumer and architectural applications including windows, frames, railing ecc. For engineered aluminum components requiring maximum wear and corrosion protection the Clear & Color Anodize is not an option.
Powder Coating adds a finishing touch to the products, but adds no wear protection and only superficial and partial corrosion protection to engineered aluminum components that are used in harsh industrial environments. The Powder Coating is not scratch resistant and can chip, peel or flake once the surface has been damaged. When the requirements call for maximum wear and corrosion protection this coating is not indicated.
